About John

John Custieʼs musical education was all private and is diverse. His studies included vocal and instrument training, music preparation, arranging, composition, orchestration, theory, harmony, and counterpoint. His performances include local events, private functions, corporate functions, Broadway productions, concerts, recordings, radio and television appearances. His abilities and education allow him to play a wide variety of musical styles from popular to classical, world music to jazz. He is just as comfortable playing works by Astor Piazzolla and Bach as he is Rhythm & Blues, Zydeco, or Jazz, and has recorded and performed with local and international celebrities. To John Custie, music is not an avocation, itʼs a career.

Not to be forgotten are the lectures and open discussions given at various junior and high schools, colleges and universities on “The Music Business”, what it takes to survive, as well as demonstrating the vast capabilities of the accordion. He offers students insight and encouragement and has received local awards from his community.
